SYNTHETIGERS DON'T YOU WANT EP

by Bruce on Wednesday, November 21, 2012

What to say, The Synthetigers' edits have been a staple in my sets ever since I got my hands on their take on Bobby Thurston's "You've Got What It Takes". The San Fran pals, Allan Craig and Sergio Fedasz (of Go Bang!) first flexed their production on their flagship release as the
'Tigers with the I Love You EP. Three very positive and floor rattling deep disco house flips.  With this release they get even deeper with three pure house jams that are peak hour gold.

Here's a bonus, download their edit of David Simmons's Holding Back - perfect winter jam!

WE'VE GOT THE JAZZ

by Bruce on Friday, November 16, 2012

Jazz comes in and out of my life, somewhat like the women do. The transition from autumn into winter especially brings her around.  This is so because I'm usually [in a car] going home after gigs and the last thing (usually) I want to hear is more dance music. So, I either turn on the local jazz station (WRTI 91.3) or dig into my own collection and decompress. So today's selection is from the Vijay Iyer Trio and their cover of Michael Jackson's Human Nature.

WHEN THE NIGHT, PARA ONE

by Bruce

I enjoy many things, but some of my favorite things are beautiful women, 90's sex chat commercials, slow disco, and a good ol' Double Dutch Bus sample.

All of which are included in this video, Para One's When The Night.

Enjoy below....

THE CURIOUS CASE OF RICH CASON AND LARRY EARL GLENN

by Bruce on Sunday, November 11, 2012

So I was doing some back search on the record label who would actually put out this guy and I came across one of their early releases 2001 Boogie by Rich Cason and The Galactic Orchestra (both are bad ass names for anything and are both Rich Cason). I listened and it sounded VERY familiar, especially the drum pattern (as I spent a long time with it making an edit).

SUPERPRINCE

by Bruce on Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Local DJ Hero and edit czar Shawn Ryan and production mythical creature, Peter Dragontail (PDT) have teamed up for a string of releases (unreleased as of yet) under the moniker Superprince.  That name is awesome on so many levels. So here is the not so exclusive exclusive 'Dangerous' which flips the classic Busta track (obviously!). I probably shouldn't be blogging about it yet but fuck it.

Peep the other two tracks on their Soundcloud. And look out for these gems in your local discotek.

OSKAR MANN IN THE MIX

by Bruce

Fellow DJ boy band bandmate, vinyl freakazoid, East Village Radio disk jockey, friend and tall person, Oskar Mann laced me with this mix over the summer and I was selfish and kept it to myself. But now, to celebrate the launch of Young Oldhead, here's this exclusive disco mix from Oskar, to me, to you. He's a little social media deprived but you can catch him on the Twitter at @nevernotworking.  He hit my Mainline with this one. (ps Oskar hates pictures).

My Peace

by Bruce

*This post is not about A$AP Rocky

Below I've shared some comments I made on a friend's Facebook post regarding the election and whoever votes for Romney is this that and the other.  As a semi-engaged person I'm genuinely interested in some of the finer details of the candidates policies and by no means do I discount anyone for making their decisions because of one candidates platform or the other. But the polices come from somewhere, and that's what I wanted to illuminate.

Records I Like | Fat Joe (pt.1), Represent

by Bruce on Monday, November 5, 2012

I recently had a brief Twitter exchange with a friend in the music business who basically declared she wasn't fucking with Fat Joe, not in 1993, not now.  I quickly spoke up and cited the critically acclaimed Don Cartagena and followed that up with this fucking monster of a debut album Represent.  So I thought I'd elaborate on my experience with the record and hopefully out you on to some hotness.
